ZooMed Laboratories and the ARAV are honored to present Dr. Mark Mitchell with the first annual ZooMed Reptile and Amphibian Veterinary Excellence (RAVE) award! This annual honor is awarded to a veterinarian recognized for excellence in advancing the care of reptile and amphibian medicine and conservation. I’m sure we can agree that Dr. Mark Mitchell fits this bill! Without reviewing all of his contributions to reptile and amphibian medicine, here are a few reasons why we are honored to present him this award.
Dr. Mitchell is well known for his contributions to educating students and fellow colleagues in the university setting, continuing education meetings, and numerous publications. He is a renowned speaker both nationally and internationally.
Dr. Mitchell served ARAV on the board of directors for a number of years and is one of our esteemed past presidents. He donates his time and energy each year to helping make our conferences a success – and our annual auction just wouldn’t be the same without him! He has been an active member of the National Wildlife Rehabilitation Association helping return native animals to their homes, educating the community, and conserving natural resources.
Dr. Mitchell’s contributions to the Journal of Herpetological Medicine have been outstanding and instrumental to disseminating cutting edge research in our field. He is a frequent contributor to the journal and is currently serving as the editor-in chief.
It my great honor to congratulate Dr. Mark Mitchell as the first recipient of the ZooMed RAVE award!
