It is with great pleasure that we announce the winner of the 2018 RAVE Award, Dr. Matt Allender!

The honor is awarded to an individual of ARAV that displays excellence in reptile and amphibian medicine through education, conservation, and bringing awareness to the community about our beloved herps.

Dr. Allender is a 2004 graduate of the University of Illinois.  He then completed a residency at the University of Tennessee-Knoxville Zoo in Avian and Zoological Medicine.  Following this residency, he returned to his alma mater in Illinois as an assistant professor in the College of Veterinary Medicine.

Dr. Allender’s list of accomplishments is vast!  He spends his career educating veterinary students, interns, and residents through clinical work and presentations.  He has contributed to many book chapters and conference proceedings.  In his spare time, he is active in research with a staggering list of publications relating to herpetological medicine.

Special thanks to Zoo Med Labs for their support of this award, herpetological medicine and Dr. Allender in 2018!
