We are a 100% avian and exotics hospital in Southern California. We practice high quality, highly compassionate medicine. Our clientele is devoted and caring, and interested in thorough diagnostic work ups, proper treatments, and advanced procedures. We believe that all exotic pets, no matter how small, deserve the same advanced level of medicine that is available for dogs and cats. Our primary goal is the health and happiness of our patients and our clients.

We also want our staff to feel appreciated and happy to come to work. We have cultivated a team-based, positive and supportive environment, promoting personal wellness as well as veterinary growth. We have 4-5 full time and 1 part time doctors plus 2 interns. There are 3-4 doctors working every shift, which means that there is always another exotics-experienced veterinarian to discuss cases with. Each doctor is assigned 1-2 technicians per shift. Appointments are 30-60 minutes to allow for extensive patient care. We are currently open 8am-6pm Monday – Saturday. We work four 10hr shifts, which allows enough time off for a personal life. Another perk at our hospital is working with our terrific and highly trained staff. Our technicians are very skilled and are comfortable handling, restraining, intubating, performing venipuncture on, caring for and administering treatments to all species. In addition, the technicians are responsible for comprehensive husbandry education and detailed demonstrations for the clients. This frees up the doctors to concentrate on diagnostics and managing cases.

Exotic Animal Veterinary Center has all the toys: Vimago CT scanner, digital radiology, ultrasound, rigid endoscopy, in house laboratory, and therapy laser. We utilize a nearby facility for radiation and use a mobile ultrasound specialist as needed. We see about 40% rabbits, 20% birds, 20% reptiles, and 20% rodents, ferrets, pet pigs, hedgehogs, sugar gliders, wildlife and fish.

Pasadena is located in sunny southern California, nestled between Los Angeles, the mountains, ocean and desert. Our location offers numerous cultural amenities and recreational opportunities nearby. Internship or 1 year of veterinary experience preferred, willing to mentor new graduates.
